Adriatic Arena is the most important sport venue of Central Italy.
Opened in the summer of 1996 with a memorable recital by Luciano Pavarotti (an honorary citizen of Pesaro since 1986) before an audience of 10 thousand, Adriatic Arena has hosted events of primary importance in sport, music, conventions and entertainment.
To name but a few: the Davis Cup tennis match between Italy and Spain; Basketball’s All Star Game; World League volleyball matches (Italy-Yugoslavia, Italy-China); the WBO boxing title fight between Gonzales and Parisi. Moreover – as a further demonstration of the flexibility of the area – dance campionships, indoor trial and supercross and wrestling championships.
No less important are concerts and entertainment: performances by Ennio Morricone, Elton John, Sting, Eric Clapton, Simple Minds, Santana, Peter Gabriel, Queen and many others.
