Andreu Genestra’s first steps in a kitchen were at a very Young age, when he started cleaning in a luxury hotel of the coast for almost a year, until he entered the actual kitchen brigade at 16. After that experience, he started his gastronomy studies at university (UIB) while working holidays and weekends in kitchens.
At 19 he travelled to Barcelona, where he spent a year in the Hotel Condes de Barcelona. His next stop was alongside Marc Fosh, where he learned the basis of his actual cuisine. This experience and the one he had at Son Brull hotel a little later gave him the vision of the high cuisine from Mallorca.
The Basque Country was always his dream, so he had the chance he staged at Mugaritz and Arzak, two of the most important restaurants in Spain, both of them left and important print in his style. After this sweet stage in his professional life came an even bigger one: elBulli, where he worked in 2008 and 2009, and it was in Cala Montjoi where he enhanced his desire for self-improvement, that still rules his every day.
He opened Andreu Genestra Restaurant in April 2011, located in Son Jaumell Hotel in the town of Capdepera. After 3 years of hard work and effort, he received his first Michelin Star and a Repsol Sun (equivalent to Michelin stars in Spain).
His brand is now consolidated with his catering service and his second restaurant in Palma de Mallorca: Arommata. He also participates in different events and is usually included in TV and radio shows.
